Hodgson calls for Eagles focus
The Eagles' 2-0 win at bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United on Saturday took the south London club to 41 points and ensured they will not be falling into the Championship next term.
They will be on the road again for the trip to St Mary's, which has had to find a place in the schedule after Southampton reached the FA Cup semi-finals, where they lost 1-0 to Leicester.
Palace's win at Bramall Lane ended a run of four matches without a win and was only their second success in nine, with the other coming against West Brom, another relegated outfit.
However, the Saints are finishing the season with a whimper.
Ralph Hasenhuttl's team have won just two of their last 17 games, 13 of which they have lost and their latest defeat was a 2-0 reverse at Liverpool on Saturday.
Southampton have not kept a clean sheet in their last seven home games but Hodgson has warned his team will not be able to slack off.
He said: "I don't think anyone wants this season to fizzle out. We need to make sure the performances are good.
"The demands we make on a player to play Southampton two days after mathematically securing safety is the same as the first day of the season.
"Our demands are always high and I hope that the players share that and that they're proud."
Crystal Palace are 5/2 to win at Southampton, who are 21/20 to take three points. The draw is available at 13/5.
