Manchester United v Villarreal: Changes required for United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be forced into some defensive changes for his team's Champions League clash against Villarreal on Wednesday.

Calf issue for Maguire

However, England defender Harry Maguire has been ruled out with a calf injury he suffered in Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa and looks set to be sidelined for a few weeks.

Meanwhile, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is suspended for the clash against the Yellow Submarine and fellow full-back Luke Shaw missed training on Tuesday.

Solskjaer has admitted the England star may only be fit enough to take a place on the bench against the Spanish outfit, who beat the Red Devils on penalties in last season's Europa League final.

Despite United's 2-1 loss in Switzerland, they could still receive a big boost to their chances of reaching the knockout stage with a win on Wednesday as Villarreal had to be content with a 2-2 draw with Serie A side Atalanta in their group opener.

Ole eyeing morale boost

Solskjaer could do with a positive result after his team were knocked out of the League Cup by West Ham a few days before that Villa reverse but the Norwegian admits he may have to be creative with his selection for the game.

"It looks like Harry is definitely out," he told reporters. "We might give a chance to Luke but he didn't train this morning, so maybe the best case scenario is he will join us on the bench.

"There has to be a reshuffle but that's why we have a big squad of good players and I'm sure we'll get a good performance with whoever is selected.

"With Aaron suspended, we will have to make a few changes."
